monitor problem

One of my friends just gave me a free monitor, a 17inch reflex or something. He got it free from his company. Anyways every 20 seconds or so it keeps making these clicking noises and refreshes the screen as well. It sounds like some electrical thing or maybe the monitor is just messed up. Anybody know what the deal is?
