I finally DUNK da rock......yeah.......and i am about 5'7 and a china man too well, strickly speaking, a taiwanese. Anyway, i started playing ball since i was 14, and never ceased to dream that one day i would dunk da hell over someone..(still not yet, gotta find da poor sucker ). ok ok, i know for someone it may sound plain boring...but hey, i consider it to be one of my best moments to-date I think with some help of weight training, i could reach higher...but too lazy..

If ya want to increase your vertical, I believe they make shoes that have a fat block on the front end so your heels are suspended when standing. It basically makes you have to stand on your toes at all times (exercises the calves). Or you can duct tape a piece of a 2x4 to your shoes to get the same effect. It may be pretty darn uncomfortable, but you'd definately get stronger legs.

excersises you can do to help with basketball vertical.......

lean against a wall...feet flat against the ground.....back flat against the wall...now squat keeping your back flat against the wall....this will help with the quads.

next find some stairs prefferably some that aren't so busy....grab some weight..dumbells etc....stand on you tippy toe and the end of the stare and rock up and down....this will work your calves.

a great sport to play to actually help with your vertical if you have access to a court for it is beach volleyball.

also running helps.....jogging up stairs.

these are all excercises that will help you with your verticle.

hahah i'm 5'6" and was dunking the rock a long time ago hehehe.

also remember that your jumping ability isn't soley rested on the 'calves' you have to train your hole lower body for it.

and for those who just have that wee tiny bit to go may i suggest the two feet take rather than the one foot.
