Hard drive trouble....

i installed a slave drive to my computer and i go to see if it showed up in "my computer" and it didnt. So i go to the device manager and it says that it is installed and is functioning properly. So i guess thats my question, why doesnt it show up in my computer?

Welcome To the forums!

Before you can use the drive it must be partitioned and formatted. Here is a good guide on doing so. Making a floppy disk and FDISK'ing the drive isn't too hard, just make sure you partition the correct drive. Once partitioned you can format it. Once formatted it will be ok.

Good luck

If you have a hard disk already in with an OS the second drive can be used just for files, no OS needed on that one. Partitioning and formatting it doesn't add an OS, it just makes it ready to accept files.

BTW, if that was a new drive you installed, the software that came with it should properly prepare the drive for your system.
