Cop

How do I configure the COP in my asus mb? The manual states that it has a protection that'll automatically shutdown the system should the CPU reach a very high temperature. Exactly what temperature?

Is this a mb or cpu feature?

My a7n8x deluxe MB bios has no option to set the temperature. It has the temp monitor, but cannot be changed. Only the qfan option.

The manual states "if the CPU temp exceeds the set criteria, the PC shuts down automatically".

Where do I set the criteria?

You could on my A7V, dunno about this one. I don't recall having an option for that in the BIOS.

If you run asus probe software you can alter the shut down temperature from there by dragging up or down the shut down line on the temperature graphs for both the mobo and cpu.

May I feel safe with COP then? I mean, the CPU will never fry, right?

Is that for the BIOS setting or for the software-triggered shutdown?

The BIOS setting. I usually keep my system 24hs downloading stuff. My only fear is that the CPU cooler may fail for whatever reason, thus frying the Athlon xp2600.

There's nothing in BIOS mentioning COP.

I was talking about AsusProbe - hence the software triggered shutdown.
