Re-applying thermal compound

I just bought myself some Coolermaster Premium. I'm curious about the instuctions that come with it. I've read a lot of posts concerning the proper way of applying. Can I just use AS3 instructions (on their website) to apply my TIM? Coolermaster instructions seem a little odd. I know I should of got some AS3, but this stuff probably a lot better than the white goop that came with my heatsink.
