temp probe for cpu

hey all,

I grabbed up a couple indoor/outdoor digital thermometers thinking i'd use them to monitor a few different temps in my comp, namely, cpu/gpu/ and case temp. I'm using a maze2 block. the little sensors are like the one u'd see inside the socket, it's a little too large to fit between the packaging on the cpu and the waterblock without holding the block up a little. That would not be good. I was wondering if anyone had modded one of these things to get it to work, and if so, how? is there a way i could channel out a little bit from the base of the block to allow clearance?

Anyone know how thick the base of a maze2 is? or what would be the way to go about cutting a little from the base in a channel? i have only a dremel, and some other power tools, drill, hm. i can't think of any "safe" way to do this.

J.

I think you could tape a piece of copper wire to where you want the temp probe reading to be and then attach the thermometer probe to the copper wire. That's the best I can think of that might work. If you know what kind of thermistor/thermocouple is used in the probe maybe you can replace them with something smaller but with the same resistance values.
