Yeah its good compared to a Barton!
sSpec Number
sl6ef
Processor Frequency
2.40 GHZ
Package Type
478 pin PPGA FC-PGA2
Core Voltage 1.525
Bus Speed 533 MHz
Thermal Guideline 59.8W
Core Stepping C1
Thermal Spec 71°C
L2 Cache Size 512 KB
Manufacturing Technology 0.13 micron
L2 Cache Speed 2.40 GHz
Bus/Core Ratio 18
Datasheet http://developer.intel.com/design/Pentium4/specupdt/

Its a C1 step and should be good for 3.0ghz or so at a guess.

My 2.4B is currently running in my system with an Asus P4P800 mobo (waiting for my 2.6C processor to come in). But it is doing 3.42ghz on 1.55 volts, almost makes me want to cancel the 2.6C. They are good processors.

only thing you'd need to buy would be a motherboard. everything else including your slk900u heatsink will work on the p4.

yes it will beat the 2.2ghz amd NP ofcourse when you overclock it. should not have a problem getting 3ghz or more out of that chip.

the cpu is cannot be unlocked so your multiplyer will be 18x

IS7 if you need to stay cheap. IC7 or P4C800 if you have a bit of money and want the top of the line.

i would use top of the line MBs with top of the line CPUs. i'd say save some money and get the IS7 abit or the P4P800 asus they will give almost the same results as teh canters.

Personally, I love my P4P800 I'm moving along @ 190FSB (3.42 ghz right now) using the 4/5 ratio.
