Wierd cooling - Ideas and questions

Ok, here's some ideas that surely other people tried before:

- i took PSU outside the case. I'm not sure about this because i've been tweaking settings a lot, but it seems to me it did nothing to cool things down, and actually it might have increased temp a little . . . is this possible? it's a standard 350 PSU.

- has anyone tried putting a fan on the back of the CPU socket? it would require a hole in the case and of course the cooler would be blowing cool, room temp. air into the back of the mobo. There's about 6 mm. between the case and the mobo, this would be the space for the air to exhaust. watcha think?

- If we strive to keep things cool, why do we cram everything into these little metal boxes? what would happen if you would build a PC outside the box, with just a battery of 3 or 4 big fans blowing air over it? this is kinda extreme and no way i'll do it but it makes me wonder.

- what about putting a pc into the freege? it would require some cutting of the freege, or perhaps not. i am sure i'm not the first one to think of this.

1. I think the PSU should suck air out of the case if set up right.
2. I'm pretty sure this has been done, saw a post about it three? months ago.
3. A lot of us who have farms and such run mobo outside of cases, why spend 45$ on a case when for twice that you can set up another rig. Most dramatic caseless system is for sale under ubermonster.

oh and for the fridge case, you have to worry about ocndensation and so on, also hard drives nor PSUs like subzero temps that much

don't even try putting it into a refrigerator unless if you are VERY experienced..

A PSU should be better in the system, like (isn't scrolling up) said earlier, it should exhaust if its done right.

Re'd about it in one of the reviews at overclockers.com/.
For $50 you can get the best air cooled HS on the market.
Then you don't have to butcher your case.( HS = SP-94 )
Read the HS reviews at above also!Yea, the PSU is design-
ed to pull heat off the CPU /HS assembly and get it out of
case.Thats why the 2 fan PSU has a fan on the bottom of
its case.: THE FANMAN

Well, i wouldn't go that far but i have just finished doing just that with a 5"x5" 220v fan. system dropped 7C and CPU about 5C. It is not even done right, it is just a test. doing it right i can get a lot better cooling.
i didn't go for the optional ear proctection. my PC sounds like a ferrari.

I did something similar last summer, my dual system is in a really hot room and the ambient temperature was around 38-40 degrees at the hotter moments of the day. Took of the sidepannel stacked a pile of books and put a huge fan on them blowing directly in the case temp dropped from 51 to 42 degrees under full load But on another board i saw screenie of a guy who litteraly did strap this HUGE fan to his computer with rubber bands.

As for a real idea how about mounting 4 120mm fans in the left pannel blowing in and 4 more 120 mm fans on the ight pannel blowing out that should create a nice draft in a case
