Unless there is some CRC or similar error checking I don't think it can be done. How would the comp know which bits are pooched if it doesn't have something to check against.
If that file were to be perhaps an mp3, one could use a program called UnCook. It doesn't work every time, but it's worked for me on the occassions I needed it to.
If it's a pron video, it's more fun to make your own
It depends a lot on what kind of file it is. There are certain applications that will repair specific file types. ie: office files, digital photos, video, rar, etc.
