In my Windows XP Pro SP1 under Sound and Audio Settings, Advanced, Speaker Setup, my settings restart to "desktop speakers" after every reboot.

I have a SB Audigy Gamer and Creative 5.1 speakers... the Creative Sound Mixer always has 5.1, however Windows won't save it.

Any ideas? Many of my friends and I share the same problem with similar setups, so it's probably common... I just couldn't find anything with a search.

Thanks for any help.

open "audioHQ" in control panel

set 5.1 speakers in "speaker" and try to set 5.1 speaker in " sound and audio setting" in control panel

i am not sure your sound card will support 5.1 speakers

i have sb audigy pla FIRST version :) and mine supports 5.1 speakers
