Ok, so I have a 9700 Pro, but for a few reasons, I need to sell my computer. Now I'm thinking of what videoc ard to get. How close are the 9600P and the 9700P in performance?

Does the 9600P perform well under the stress of full detail in games? What about DX9?

9700pro totally eats the 9600pro. 9700 pro =256bits memory interface with 8 pixel piplines.

9600 pro=128bits memory interface with 4 pixel pipelines.

if I was able to find a 9700pro and can spare the money, then that is what to get.

the 9700pro does eat the 9600pro in most games and you'll be able to use AA and AF in most things....but you already know this.

even the 9600xt can't hold a candle to the 9700pro.

The guys I know who have had both love 'em both. Sure, the R9700 has more grunt, but the R9600P has a more efficient core (albeit less pipes) and an improved shader unit.....

The R9600PRO can run BF1942 w/ 4xFSAA and 16xAF with nary a hiccup, just buttery fps. It's a great card for the money...

keep in mind that although the performance of the 9700p is much better, you're looking at $75-100 more. Check out the 9500pro also, it's a tad faster than the 9600 and only a bit more expensive.

9500 pro a bit more expensive? The card goes for over $200. Your better off getting a 9700. Production of the card has stopped a while back.

I wouldnt pay more than $100 for a 9600 pro cause its not fast enough and I can get faster for less, minus aa/af and dx9 of course ;) anyway If you cant afford at least a 9700, id wait up or get a cheap card in the meantime
