9800pro 256mb as substitute for 9800xt?

I've stepped down from buying a $500 9800xt card for now, but im interested in the 9800pro 256mb version for $400 or so, and im wondering what the difference between the two cards is besides the overdrive, and DDR2 memory (which beyond3d claims is only faster than DDR1 by 8% in extreme cases)

any thoughts?

The 9800pro with 256mb is only slighly faster than one with 128mb if any at all.

For comparison sake, I got a 9600pro 256mb and it's much slower than any 9600pro 128mb I've seen on this board.

i would just buy a 9800np and flash to pro, or just buy a 9800pro. The XT is overpriced. It doesn't have that many advantages over the 9800pro, especially if you're going to overclock.

just get the pro and o/c it a little and you will have the same results then the xt nearly without spending all that precious money
