Question Buying used SL6RZ - Guy's got 4, but which one do I choose?

Hi!

Finally found someone i Europe with some RZ's, but he has 4 different ones. (Dont know if they're OEM or retail, though)
So which one do i get? (He's asking 136$, thats ok, right?)

Here's the selection:

1 malay q320a443
1 malay l301a691-206
1 malay q315a027-0275
1 china 5317a731

I would go with number 2, but what do you guys think?

The 1st one is the most recent (20th week of 2003), so get that one. Newer CPUs always have more overclocking potential.

True, but are "L"-Malays not considered "almost guaranteed good OC", whereas the "Q"-Malays are more luck of the draw?

Besides, the "L"-Malay chip isn't that old?

No, it makes no difference.

After having read through the thread "SL6RZ is da bomb", im still not convinced. Seems to me, that the "L"-Malay is the one to go with....

Come on now, is Akira really the only one with an opinion in this matter? (not that your input isn't appreciated)

The SL6RZ may be "old hat" out of mainland Europe, but it is still quite hot where i live, so I would really appreciate any suggestions from previous (and current) SL6RZ owners!

OK, I have a week 6, 2003

it can run at 3.4ghz allday long at 1.65vcore
it can run at 3.5ghz, but it is not 24hrs prime stable.....
maybe only 15hrs stable?...could also be my memory that is holding me back.

you do want a "L" malay....week 52/2002 seems about the sweetest chips(if I'm not mistaken)......3.5-3.6ghz easy

as you get past this week you get less and less lucky.
week 9/2003 seems to be the big drop off point....forget about 3.4ghz unless you are realy lucky.
it could get ugly past week 15/2003

infact, a week 7 was tested before the week 6 was sent to me, by the same person I got this chip from.
the week 7 didn't do as well as mine, by about 5 FSB....I'm not suprised.

malay l301a691-206........this is a week 1/2003, it should do as well as mine or better.

good luck

mica

Stormer, not the pack date, but the FPO/Batch #. The 2nd digit is the year, and the 3rd/4th digits are the week.

2003 week 20 = Q320a443
2003 week 01 = L301a691-206
2003 week 15 = Q315a027-0275
2003 week 17 = 5317a731

I have an SL6RZ 2002 week 52 chip. I have it Folding 24/7 at 3.4 GHz with 1.575 volts air cooled. I have benchmarked it up to 3.7 GHz with 1.75 volts. I would probably recommend the "L301" just because it is very close to the "3252" chip that I have, although I cannot guarantee its overclocking ability.

Hehe stormer, what a coincidence....Your chip probably left the assembly line on the same day as mine did! Take a look at the FPO/batch#'s:

L301A691

L301A702

Race you to the 3,3 ghz line

I have owned about 7 of the RZ chips all costa rica and all great ocers. i never tried a Q or L but heard L are second best. the china one is new so id be interested in trying that but it could turn out to be a bummer like some Qs so if you wanted to play it safe take the L or gamble with the China.
