I notice the two cores I have running on my Intel HT system get bigger. I swear they only take a few MB or ram at first, but after leaving my machine on for a day or two They take much more.

I have one taking up 24MB or ram and another taking 15MB

Doesn't that seem like a lot of memory usage?

I have 2 right now and they areboth at 15MB. What happens if you reboot. Do they drop in size?

you betcha there...the core grows as the calculations get bigger....the bigger the protein the more memory the core needs to perform the calcs.

especially with gromacs this is why mem bandwith is so important with folding faster....the constant back and forth of information from the cpu and the memory

hope's this clarify's some things.

I've got 14mb on my primary computer, just after restart, and 13mb on my secondary, which has been on for a week or two.
