file server and chatroom.

I have very limited knowledge of ftp, and virtually no knowledge of java. What i would like to do is create a simple chat room, and a simple file server. This is for our lab group at school, so we have a common place to save files, and discuss the lab. The file server has to work in IE, and i guess it cant be FTP, since there is no FTP software installed on school computers.

How can i implement this into my webpage?

file serving can be done by default just by sharing a folder on the "server". Chat proggies can be found at www.hotscripts.com
