Question Performance v.s. quality. What is the deal ?

Heya all.

For some bizzare reason, when I set my card/drivers options
for high performance as opposed to high quality, it seems
to look better to me at the performance settings....

This has always been the case ever since my first GF2 card.
Currently with the top system in my sig, it is the same.
At the moment, I got a Ti4200, and my monitor is a 21"
Sony Trinitron.

What the heck is wrong with me ? Am I a freak, or have any
of you had the same experience ?

Have tweaked all possible settings, every which way, with
about 10 versions of RivaTuner and other utilities and drivers
from 6.50 dets right up to the 44.03's I run now.

Perhaps my brain is broke. Dont wear glasses or nothing....

?

Get your eyes checked. Or maybe play some newer games. With a lot of older games, you won't notice any difference between high and low quality settings.

You most likely mainly play first person shooters, and don't stop to admire the textures. You're getting a higher framerate, and your mind is doing the rest of the work for your eyes. If you actually look at a still image and compare them. Like when you're not moving and looking at wall (like a corner of a building), the edges of the planes where they meet, will look more jagged at a performance setting, whereas it will look smoother with the quality turned up.

That must be it. Except for surfing, and running benchies, about
the only thing I do with this system is playing excessive amounts
of UT and UT2k3, and I keep moving as fast as I can.

Long Live UT Assault ! Moo !

*I am still mad that there is no NaliCow model in UT2k3......
