Strange Problem in Windows XP

This one has me stumped.
If I double click on Explorer, Mycomputer, or Control Panel, it takes about 20 seconds for the specific application to appear.
When I click on a regular program like Word, Excel, etc., there's no problem.
I've got a Tbred B 1700+, Win XP Pro, 256 Kingmax Ram pc2700, and nothing is overclocked.
Any ideas of what's wrong and how I might fix this?
TIA

Hmmm....
Sounds like and explorer error, Explorer, Mycomputer, and Control Panel all use MSexploder.
Look for any updates on the MS site...
