Sega Game Gear LCD mods???

Hi guys,
Has anyone managed to get a Sega Game Gear to display regular video signals? I keep hearing of it being possible but googling for details gets me a lot of dead ends. I just got one for $3
I have the cartridge port pinout that shows the TV adaptor signal line, some people have assumed this is a simple composite video signal, is this correct? or is it just a prescence line to tell the game gear when the TV module is connected or something?
