As stated in title. Currently I have a creative 52x drive, and I can hear the damn thing over my noisey Delta Fan when it spins up.

Who makes a fairly quiet and fast C.d. rom?....

The noise this thing makes is really annoying..

most any relatively fast drive is going to be noisy, I am happy with my 40x16x10 from LG Electronics, it isn't really noisy, but still writes fairly fast. Good luck

You could try insulating the drive with foam or something to help cut down on noise, but pretty much all new drives are noisy.

Sony makes a 40X CDROM(there may be faster versions now) that is very quiet. I'm using an LG 48/24/48 that has a bit of whine when the disk spins up, but nothing like some of the other drives that I've used.

my plextor is really quiet, but it costed like 100 bucks.
