Underclocking generic memory question

I was thinking about getting some more memory for my system and was comparing the price of generic pc3200 with performance pc2700.

I figured I could grab some generic pc3200 and underclock it with tighter memory timings.

Do ya think that would work?

Currently I run my pc2700 @ 179mhz with 2,2,2,5 1T timings.
