my p4p800dl m/b doesnt seem to like 5:4 divider much. i can run my memory at 240 with a 1:1 divider but can only run it at 200 with a 5:4 divider. so should i sacrifice cpu speed to achieve higher bandwidth or the other way around in terms of overall performance? thanks.

You can run 240 1:1 but only 200 at 5:4? Something sounds wrong with that. Do you have the 800 strap set in the bios? YOu should go with the highest clock speed IMO.

800 strap???what is that? i dont see any option like that in the bios. i felt kinda surprised when the machine booted with my rated ddr166 memory running at 240. lol.

DDR166??? Your signature says PC3200, so that's DDR400 RAM. Your mobo should have three mem ratio settings... 400 which equals 1:1, then 320 which equals 5:4, and finally 266 which equals 3:2 ratio.

Go with whatever gives you the highest FSB.

oh sorry for the wrong spec, i meant ddr333. my corsair pc3200c2 doesnt allow FSB to go any higher than 250. so i am temporily using my cousin's infeon stick from his dell. i guess my question is answered. thanks.
