New graphics card

What would you recommend?

XFX GeForce FX 5600 128MB DDR @ £87.30
or
Sparkle GeForce FX 5600XT 128MB @ £78.14
or
any other card in this price range plus where to get it in the UK

the card will be going in a 1700+, 512MB PC2100 DDR system

will want the card to last a few years of gaming before upgrading so dx9 support i think is essential.

Fork over an extra $50 for the Ultra. Its what my buddy has in his P4 2.4. Runs everything he's got at 1920x1440 res with all options on.

See if you can get a Radeon 9600 if Dx9 support is essential.

I won't recommend the 5600 at all. The only good version of the FX5600 is their ultra with Rev b board.

Go with the 9600 non-pro.

Yup, ATi's cards are the best on the market atm. Go with a r9600 se or pro, if it's in your price range...
