Send us up the stuff!

I live up in Canada. Yes, I get 13 months of -60C weather to cool my room down for some good OC's but that doesn't mean you guys have got to punish me and my fellow whale blubber eating Canucks.

Very few of the American online retailers shiip to Canada which blows. Even with the exchange rate and shipping we'd still get a great deal. But no, .

Here is a diagram as to how us- canada computer related commerce
could work

see how you send us the stuff and we send you the money

look at the proximity of canada in relation to the usa... over 95% of the canadian population lives within like 5 hours or less (can remember the exact statist) of the us boarder. and hey we aren't asking for you to deliver it yourself you have fedex and so do we (happenstance there huh)

I've been saying that for a long time, maybe I needed a diagram to get my point across.
Even with the exchange rate and the extra shipping it would cost to be shiped to canada we would save money.

My answer is to find some one who spends there winters in florida and have it shipped to them, then they can bring it up when they come back. And if you get it from a site with free shipping you save that much more.

I should start a board smuggling business. Cloak and Daggar stuff to save some money of Thermal paste and UV reactive fans for canadians.

*I pulled up to the boarder with a trunk full of UV Fans and AS5, in my seemingly nobviouse auto - but was it to unobvious?..., I was bring to Canadians because the stores were all so expensive. The sweat poured down my face as I explained to the customs official I was visiting my aunt, and now I wasn't smuggling modding parts into Canada. He asked for ID and I reached into my pocket and extracted my wallet. As I pulled out my Drivers License, got got a look at the recepts, I had tucked in there. The sirens wailed and dogs barkes, and guns were pointed at me as if I was a criminal... Oh yeah I was I was a COMPUTER SMUGGLER*....

I agree - the availability and prices of stuff in Canada is awful - stores like SVC and newegg should ship to us - they would make a killing (There are lots of Canadians who would buy from them), and the hassle is practically negligible - and we would all be *glad* to pay more for the shipping - it is still cheaper than buying here.

I can't buy from newegg - so I am forced to buy for more at local Canadian stores. If I could buy from newegg I would probably have spent around $5,000 this year alone on computer parts.

I think are best bet is to email them into submission.

I wrote Newegg once and they said they had no intensions of shipping to canada in the near future.

But who know if they get alot of request they might change there minds

I like this. Very nice elaborative picture 9mm. I've wanted some of the good US companies to open up shop morth of the border for a long time. If they'd do that we'd save a good chunk of money, it would spread shipping and import fees over a large amount of goods and so we wouldn't get nailed at the border for one item at a time. Let's not have this thread turn entirely into fluff, maybe someone has a good idea on how to elicit change and I'd hate to see the thread disappear because of too much chat.

Well, a petition of sorts could work - although "petition" has very negative implications. Perhaps - a "suggestion" letter signed by a lot of people?

The problem is proving that it is worth the while of these companies to ship to Canada - there has to be some reason why they don't as of now - and it would be best to find out what the reason is, and then deal with it appropriately.

I somehow doubt that a company the size of newegg will change it's policies on request, but some of the smaller stores might listen to reason .

If all the Canadians post here that and state that they WILL buy stuff, from say newegg, we might be able to get atleast a trail period for newegg or whomever to determin the feasability of shipping to canada.

So, if you are canadian and want to get products from a US online retailer, please post here.

Actually I did hear some rumblings about a year ago that Newegg was thinking of putting together an all Canadian setup, completely within Canadian borders so there'd be no duties, but that was at least a year ago and I've not seen anything tangible yet. Fingers crossed though.

Let me be the first *real* American to reply to this communist drivel - we have what we like to call a *trade embargo* with Canada and most other totalitarian countries. Sure, you may be able to smuggle in some syrup or bad beer every once in a while, but you can bet your walrus-hide boots: you're never going to get our precious computer supplies.

(*Edit* - just realized how outdated that computer looks. Oh, well. I assume Canadians don't even have that kind of technology yet.)

Remember what I said about not letting this turn into a "fluff" thread? I'm not going to pull that, but this is a topic of importance to a lot of member here, so let's keep the humor to a minimum. If Newegg's people come here to see what kind of Canadian demand there is I'd like them to see that there are a lot of people who would buy if they could do so without getting killed at the border by duties, not just a bunch of people joking around.

I'd like the humor jabs kept to a low level, the sincere attacks/grudges/flames and whatever else along those lines that anyone on either side of the border is thinking about posting kept to non-existent. This isn't a flag waving contest.

I don't really have a problem so much with finding good parts at reasonable prices, and locating a store in the US with these attributes that ships to Canada isn't too difficult; however, what ****es me off most is the ridiculous customs fees that are tacked on, especially by UPS, and since most stores that ship to Canada use UPS...........

At least now it has become easier to buy within Canada, as the selection of goods has become quite a bit better, with prices that aren't that bad at all (I remember it took more than a year for Thermalright heatsinks to have widespread availability within Canada, and of course it happens right after I pay, with all the duties, $40 US for a $20 US SK-7... ).

Of course, it would be awesome if Newegg set up a Canadian subsidiary, with prices inline to their American store, they would probably dominate the market.
If anyone from Newegg is reading this, "hint hint"

i would buy stuff from the usa but (not just the usa, canada too) it seams that most places u need paypal or a visa.

i am a little to young to have any of thoes yet. only way i could get something is if they accpted cash ordders. or i could ask my mom to set me up some kind of visa or mastercard.

but if there was a canadian newegg i would buy from them.

Yeah there are many stores I know of whos consumer base goes there because it is simply DIRT CHEAP (by canadian standards), so if another store offered better prices they would go there.
