2nd hardrive...

Angry 2nd hardrive...


hey my slave 20 gig hd shows up...but cant get into it and wont format...what could be the problem? o yeah i dont have raid and i have a 40g on master and the 20 on slave...it used to read then it stopped all of a sudden and wont let me get into it...and when i try to click it open it says it isnt formated and if i would like to format...then i do and it says could not complete the format...is the hd screwed? or is ther something i can do

Download some diagnostic tools for your drive and try that... your drive might be dying....

Did you set the jumpers correctly?

o right...i unplugged the master and set the slave to master to see if i can fdisk it but i cant, it says no fixed drive present...and when i try to format it says format not supported...so i guess its dead huh???

yeah its second in line(1st is 40g, 20g is second,dvd-rom,cdrw) but yeah it does show up in bios...

If its NOT a SATA I would remove the other drives and set it up as the Primary Master IDE drive. ( making sure it shows up in BIOS as that ) Then try and run the diagnostic. I would think if it shows up in bios, you should be able to test it. Good luck

yeah its not sata and i have removed the master and set the slave to master then tried to run WD diagnostix and guess what...it says its not supported then i try to boot up again...then it wont even boot...
