XP2500 @ 2310Mhz

Hi Guys,

this is my first time overclocking and have had my machine running nicely (or what seemed nicely) at 210x11 without adjusting any RAM settings or voltage.

However, i have tried running Prime95 torture test and it errored immediately.

I reset my BIOS to defaults and ran it again, but got the same error. I changed the torture test to only run small FFT without any problems. It was only when i ran it on mixed or high FFT's that i got any problems.

Does anyone know if this is likely to be a CPU related problem, or should i start looking at my RAM.

If anyone can help, i definately owe them a pint.

Athlon XP2500+
MSI K7N2 Delta L
512MB Twinmos DDR 400
256MB Radeon 9200

Thanks

Steve

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!

Nice o/s there for a newbie.

Try bumping up your vcore a bit. Just watch out for your cpu temp and you should be ok.

if prime errors out that means your OC is not stable.. the problem can be caused by too high of a fsb for your ram, too little voltage for your chip, or its just too high of an OC for your chip

At 11x210 2-2-2-11, I had to set my PC3700 Ram voltage to 2.85 for it to pass P95 Torture. I was running at 2.8Vdimm while I slept last night and when I got up, it had errorred out during the 2nd of 4 passes at 896K. Now that I'm at work, it is home running with the Vdimm at 2.85. I won't know how it fared until I get home this afternoon. I do know that if I penalize my performance by loosening the memory timing to, say, 2-3-3-11, it will run that speed at only 2.70Vdimm.

Hoot, were you able to run your locked barton in 220x11 at 1.8v?

Suma.

That was 1.80 called for in the BIOS. at the Vcc pins on the CPU, I measured 1.82-1.83V and that was also using high grade water cooling.
