Epox to Abit switch?

Hi All,

I have an 8rda+ rev. 1.1 that over clocked very will but me and my big fat hands got in where they shouldn't have been and shorted out my mobo.

Now it is time to replace it but I am thinking about Abit and the NF7 board. On my epox I had to do the volt mod to get it to clock over 200 fsb, was running 220X11 with a aqzea week 42 barton 2500+

Vcore was 1.85 and system was very stable for my use, did not prime test but I never had any system crashes or problems. Could run Halo, COD, CS for hours with no problems.

What I'm wanting to know is can you adjust the Vdd via bios and if so how high can you adjust it, or do you have to volt mod it like the epox board?

What is the limit on the vcore voltages as well as vdimm voltages? I have qualilty components, ie. corsair xms 3200 ram. Antec 450watt psu, Radeon 9800 pro ect, ect.

I would go with Epox again but I'm hearing good things about the Abit board and also like the idea of the hardware monitoring setup with the Abit board, not like the software setup with the Epox board.

Thanks

Welcom to the forums

Word on the street ~amdmb.com and a few other places~is Epox is coming out with a new Nforce2 board here within the next month or so. It may be worth it to wait just a bit and see what turns up in a month . Or you could jump on an Abit Nf7-2 at newegg for $90 shipped right now...not a bad deal at all.

i went from the 8rda+ to the nf7-s and couldn't be happier (vdd modding can suck if you're clumsy)
I just wish this board had IDE raid

Yeah, one of my older boards ate it after a VDD mod...that was sad. I have no clue what happened, but it no longer booted and whenever I tried to turn it on the southbridge heatsink got too hot to touch.
