If I get a Retail Athlon XP do I have to clean the die with Isoprypol and a Lens cloth, if it's new?

Not really but it is recommended that you do. I always do it. This way your sure that there isn't anything that could impead good thermal transfer betweent the CPU and HSF. Even in a Retail package you never know where the CPU has been before it reached your hands. Always good to be safe

hehe, I lick em for good luck....but I wouldnt recommend that I get fuzzy headed after awhile...
