The only downside that i've found is that it IS a Hitachi (Well, IBM) so there is the issue that some people don't want to buy another IBM as long as they live, but i've got this drive chugging away in my rig, and it's going fine so far :

all new drives come with a frimware patch with fixes the problem (or so hitachi says)...for 80 bucks its a great deal. Although, it doesnt really say what brand of the drive you get. Also, its only £5 unless you are willing to spend over £100.
