Refusing to give UP!!!

I have a Celeron II 700 @ 877 on a ASUS P3V4X and i need to hit 1.05ghz. Now i would be happy at 950 or something around there but because i have a WINBOND chipset instead of ICS i can't set my fsb to 85, 90, 95 i only have the option of 83, 100. Right now @ 877 i have temps like 26.0 C idle and 35-37 full load. I have a MSI 6905 MASTER slotkey, and i set my voltage to 2.4v. Still no post at 100fsb. I tried pci video and no go. Do i need a Peltier to goto 100fsb? i only have 64mb of pc100 can that be it...maybe try 133? Please help...anything.

I don't see why you should go to 133MHz RAM, your 100MHz should be able to do the job. What kind of ram is it, and have you remembered to set i at CAS 3-3-3?

Thats the problem...how do i set CAS 3-3-3 i dunno. In my P3V4X settings i have 3 settings:

1...............7ns 143mhz
2...............8ns 123mhz
3...............User Define

i have it set at 1 (143mhz)

I think thats cas 3 but im not sure...I don't even know what cas is can someone fill me in. I am soooo confused i don't understand why it won't go.

Have you tried "4/3" or "Auto" CPU/DRAM ratios in the bios?

If so, you may want to check and see if the memory is "by spd" (recommended) or not. If "by spd" doesn't fly try setting up the mem to 3,3,3,6. If 3,3,3,6 works, will 2,2,2,5?

The above fix helped me make the 140 to 150 fsb jump on my P3V4X after I found a NIC card that couldn't take the higher fsb...

best of luck

OK... sorry, I left for a few minutes with my post half done...

Set up the "user define" then select each of the settings to 3,3,3,6...

I usually have my cpu ratio at 1/1 @ 877 and when i try and i mean try to get to 100 fsb (1.05ghz) i set it to auto. For memory i still have it set to 143mhz. So i have to change it...i thought there was 3 settings for user define not 4...and the lowest number is the best right? thats usuallly what i have it set for when it is not at 143mhz, and it runs perfect. My Ram brand is PNY PC100.

OK...

To rule out your memory, set it to "4/3" ratio (75MHz@100fsb), and select "user define" on the chip setup. There are 4 settings just under the user define the first 3 of them you can select 3 or 2, the last will let you select 5 or 6.

try CAS 3-3-3-6 first.

If this doesn't help you, you might have a PCI card that can't take the speed. What is the bus speed at 100 fsb?

The bus speed at 100fsb is i believe 33. I am going to take out all my pci cards and try it at cas3. If nothing happens at cas3 should i try cas2?

No... if it WORKS, I would try CAS 2-2-2-5 after going to "1/1" in the ratio.

As for the 33MHz on the PCI bus, well, you can't get any better than that. I would, however, reduce your system to minimal and see if you can hit your 100fsb goal.

If 100fsb is a "no go" with a minimum system (i.e. mobo, h-drive, vid card & monitor) look closely at Dan Edgar's article on P3V4X bios settings (on the homepage)...
