Well, I finally got a laptop last night...E-machines M5310.

*Athlon XP 2400+
*40GB 4200rpm HDD
*3x USB 2.0
*1x Firewire
*1x S-Video
*1x VGA
*1x Parallel
*802.11g wireless
*Ethernet jack
*Fax Modem jack
*CD-RW/DVD combo drive
*512MB DDR RAM
*15.4" widescreen display
*ATI mobility graphics (32MB shared)
*1 TypeII slot

Anybody think it was a good deal? I paid $1600 CAD for it. I got a Targus backpack and a mini surge-bar for free. I also got the 3yr warranty plan for an extra $400 (gimme a break - I don't know how to fix laptops :p).

If it's 1600 with tax I'd say that's about right you didn't get a really big discount. If I'm right you can boost the amount of Graphics memory up to 128 but it's useless the card inside is like a Radeon 7500. Good idea on the 3 year plan. For $400 they better give you a new one if this one dies. Welcome to the world of mobile computing and enjoy.
