? about Powercolor 9600pro's

I am looking for a new vid card to buy my dad for christmas and have pretty much settled on a 9600pro. I noticed on gameve.com that they have 2 versions of the Powercolor 9600pro. One is listed as just a 9600pro at $152 and the other is listed as a 9600pro ez at $136. There was no info on what the difference is between the 2 and I was wondering if anyone here could help me out. Also, is there anything I should know about Powercolor Radeon cards (note that this card is not going to be overclocked, so I only really care that it will work fine at stock speeds)?

I cant be sure, but almost all cards with added names like Ez, lite, and LE are slower. In this case I dont think it has the software bundle, svideo adapter or dvi adapter either.

yeah, after some digging around on powercolor's site, it seems the EZ version has the memory running at 200 instead of 300 for the normal 9600pro.

Correct. The PC 9600 Pros are at 400/400

ATI Originals are 400/600

No, the powercolor 9600pro is actually at 400 core and 300x2 (600) memory where the EZ is only 400 core and 200x2 (400) memory speed. See links...

EZ=POS

PowerColor= probably(everyone i have seen or heard of is) 2.8ns Samsung. Mine is a PowerColor.

I would check ExcaliberPC though.. i think they have XT's for around the price Newegg has Pro's for, 160ish. They are right up there with Newegg in service too.
