SN45g Bios Chip Replacement Prob

hey yall,

Im up in dallas right now at CPL and for soem reason me and my roomy decided it would be a good idea to try and overclokc my shuttle the day before it started.

I have a SN45g with

2x 512 2700 mushkin
2500 barton
8500 LE
2x 120Gb 8Mb west dig drive
DVD burner

So we went into bios and changed the multiplier from default to 12

then we lowered the volts from default of 1.85 to 1.70

then changed mem timing to 6 3 3 2

and changed FSB from 166 to 180

We then restarted but it never booted back up.

I now have a block of aluminum that cant een get to bios.

I asked soem shuttle peeps at the CPL and they said i had fried the bios since shuttle are fragile when it comes to Overclokcing....and that i could go the shuttle.com and order a bios chip replacement kit.

ive been combing the site but cant find it anywhere, does it exist?

they also said i should have just tried oiverclokcing a very tiny bit at a time instead of all at once.

any advice?

other guy that owned my same model said he did the exact same thing cept that iut not onyl fried his bios, it fried his proc and memory, is this possible? since we actually lowered the volts?

latas

and yes weve done every way possible to drain power from bios chip, took out batteryu left it off an entire night, took it apart and back together, blah blah, that dont do crap.

Does it have a jumper for clearing your CMOS? Try unplugging your PSU for a couple of minutes, plug it in, hold the "Insert" key and turn it on, keep holding the"Insert" key if it boots immediately hit the "Delete" key and enter BIOS, select "Load Optimized Defaults" then select "Save to CMOS and Exit", reboot machine and see if you're okay.

I think you're down to hot flashing your BIOS chip as it will take awhile to get a new one, you can try Shuttle USA. Find someone with the same version as your BIOS and hot flash it. Good Luck!

Hey, I have an sn45g too. It worked fine when overclocking in little amounts, (got my barton 2500 to 2.5 tho :P) But it quit one day while saving and exiting bios too. I rma'd it, new one works fine, but shuttle charged me for return shipping too, that kinda ****ed me off. I wonder whats up with this.
