I am totally shocked (Oc of my 2.4c)

All i can say is omg..... what have i done... Yes im shocked i am an amd guy who owned a palomino at 1400Mhz and now look at me.. i took my p4 2.4c to 3.55ghz stable.....

I was unstable at 3.2 but i managed to change to some settings:
First of all I disabled the last two GAT settings, they are at Auto, Auto, Auto, Disabled, Disabled. Second I change my cas latency to 2.5 .. and i mean WOW i went all the way up from 3.2 (which was unstable before) to 3.55 ghz STABLE ... I'm still seeing if i can get more of this.. im running at:

FSB: 296
1.625 vcore
2.8 vdimm
3:2 dram ratio
1.6 vagp

Timings at 2.5-3-3-6

Just a small tip to some of you who can't get their oc they were expecting: Do NOT give up , I had really i was upset.. but just some miracle happened... its a great xmas

Thank you all who helped me out I'm very pleased with this great forum

Im testing if 292 is stable, it looks to be, have to run prime for hours now..I cannot load into windows at 300 fsb and lower than that will give me prime rounding error instantly.

I got an error on prime but at least it wasn't a rounding error, i guess ill up the vcore 1 tad. Right now its at 1.65 and in hardware monitor it reads at about 1.6-162. the only thing that worries me are my temps... at full load my cpu gets up to 58°c.

Both those readings you're reporting would make me nervous. 58 C is hot. 1.65v on air is taking a risk. I can boot stable witha 303fsb and vcore has never been above 1.625. 42 C under full load is the highest I've been. SNDS can occur around 1.7v no matter how you cool your rig.

Also your taking a huge hit on your bandwidth with a 3:2 divider. You can probably get higher benchmarks lowering your fsb and using a 5:4 divider. Then you also get a lower vcore and lower temps.

Well yea, my vcore right now is at 1.65.. i will not go higher.. and in the abit probe monitor it shows it as 1.63.. also my idle temps are at 44 but at full load it goes to about 57. Am I at a safe level right now? 1.63 vcore ?

I was also thinking of using 5:4 divider for more bandwidth but i had trouble getting it stable... i had to probably mess with my timings.. Maybe if i dont get 100% stable at 292 fsb ill lower it abit and set it to 5:4 divider and lower vcore for better temps as well..

Well i tried to run 5:4 divider at 284 fsb but It did not boot very well... just looks like my ram will not run at those speeds... any other ideas?????

vcore at 1.63v is probably safe. I wouldn't be comfortable with a 58 C load temp, thats HOT. 60 c is the red zone and thats too close for me. 3:2 kills bandwidth add to that at 292 your ram is runnung at around the low 190's for bus speed...Way underclocked. You're shooting your own foot. If you got say 250-260 fsb with a 5:4, then your memory is slightly overclocked. The cpu will need less volts.(1.5875 or so) which means less heat(hopefully more like 50C at load).

Are you running memtest86 clean before worrying about prime95 ?

A 250 fsb w/ a 5:4 divider = ddr400(or 200fsb to the ram). you have pc3200(ddr400) not a stunning revelation it wouldn't run with a fsb of 284.

I ran prime 95 at 290 fsb, but my comp froze after running it for almost 2 hours, not an error, but it just froze.... why would that happen? overheating cpu? its full load at about 57 when i was watching it, does it mean its not stable ?¿... grandpadan i did not fully understand what you said about the 5:4 ratio.. should i lower my fsb and make sure i am able to run at 5:4 ratio which will turn out for a better performance than more fsb to run at higher clock speeds ?

Nice one told you there was something wrong hehe. I jus got my 2.4c m0 and a abit AI7 (for xmas ) see how it goes

Btw what other settings did you change to get the cpu to go higher?

As for your cooling i would say reseat the heatsink. Also what thermal compound are you using? AS5? if its AS5 dont spread it just put a dab in the middle and let the heatsink do the rest ( make sure it covers where the core is though )

If im running at 290 fsb and set my dram ratio to 5:4, at what speeds would my ram run at ??

To get higher speeds i changed my cas to 2.5 and disabled the last two GAT settings. Timings: 2.5-3-3-7 but im running at 3:2 dram ratio

glad to see you got it working

hopefully mine will go that fast now that i have some extra cash for cooling.
