Kingston HyperX 3000 kit - CH-5

Earlier I though that these were just bad BH-5 chips that could only do pc2700 speeds, but once I took off the IHS I discovered they were CH-5 chips. I'm going to RMA them to newegg because they simply can't do pc3000 speeds at 2-2-2-6 (they can do pc2700 at that, but they require 2.5-3-3-7 to do pc3000 and pc3200 speeds), and if they dont run out of them before my RMA is processed hopefully I will get BH-5. So just wanted to warn everybody that even though the majority of people get BH-5 from these chips, there are certainly a few CH-5's around there. They also had the 2.5V sticker.

I've been trying to tell everyone this for some time now.Kingston is out of bh-5. Check the kingston website, I don't think any of their memory is rated to run at 2-2-2-6 with a P4 system. 2-3-2-6 are their recommended timings with the 865/875 chipsets.

These quotes from kingston:
Quote:
Notice: All Kingston products are tested to meet our published specifications. Some motherboards or system configurations may not operate at the published HyperX memory speeds and timing settings.
Quote:
For Expert System Users:

Enter the BIOS setup screen for your PC or motherboard and check whether you can change the memory timings. If you can change the memory timings, you need to change the following parameter:

RAS-to-CAS (also called RAS-to-CAS Delay or tRCD) to 3

If your BIOS setup does not allow you to change memory timings, then please use the solution below.

I didn't say they never had bh-5. I said they don't have it any more. You obviously got lucky and got some of the earlier stuff. Count your blessings.

I just bought some KHX-3000 2x512 from newegg also that is bh-5. It is running at DDR440 at 2-3-2-5. Maybe you have a better chance of getting bh-5 in the 1 gig packs since they don't sell as many of those.

Does your product code have an A in it like the CH-5 3200 does? Or are they not doing that for the 3000?

Give up Dan... I have been trying to tell people this same thing about Buffalo but no one listens yet still complains when they get Micron chips on the sticks. BH-5 chips are no longer in production, PERIOD.

That infomation has been up at Kingston's site for a long while now. Info like that would be released even if Kingston hadn't switched over to CH-5 at all. That infomation is simply to reduce the amount of RMA's a company receives - like Mushkin raising "rated" timings from 2-2-2 to 2-3-2 for their Black Level 2 PC-3500 on i875/i865 chipsets. It's only to reduce RMA's.

As said, HyperX PC3000 is no longer on price list any more. HyperX PC3200 (non-A) still is but I don't expect it to stay there long. Corsair PC-3500 is also still on it. But neither of these are really good buys compared to Mushkin BL2.

Don't know how to give up. If just 1 person listens you've made a difference. You gotta look at it that way or you would just quit.

If it means anything I kind of got that impresion that BH-5 is on the very edge.

This is the only site I've ever joined and so far I've been able to find answers.

So far the only question I have at the moment is about jumper settings on SATA hard drives to RAID. I typed the search and I couldn't find anything. 'jumper' and I think I also hard drives and connections.

Whoops. A few minutes ago I realized I hit the wrong quote.

No, bh-5 just happened to work VERY well in these P4 systems(AMD also) but now it's out of production. Everything being produced now just doesn't work like bh-5 does/did.
