Video Playback problems help me!!!

I boot up, get some error with the registry, and windows fixes it. All it did was restore the registry to the way it was when windows was first installed. So I have all these program installed and none are linked to the registry. So I reinstall most all my software. But now, with any media player, windows, divx etc... the video plays choppy and the sound is horrible. I reinstalled all my players, deleted registry files and reinstalled clean ones. I have tried everything.
please help!
