ive got a Epox 8KTA3+ ( at girlfriends house ) yesterday i went and got a 2200+. Ive flashed the bios and i cant get it to boot no matter what at 133fsb but heres the wierd bit ive had a 600mhz duron at 800mhz ( 133*6 ) working fine i know the chips not bad coz its happy running at 109*18 for 2ghz stock Vcore

also the multipliers are all messed up when im at 7 in bios real multiplier is 15

does anyone know what bios setting i got to set for it to be 13.5 real ??

btw chip is T-Bred B DUT3C 03018 <--- thats not a typo it really says that

I didn't think that board could unlock multis above 12.5 without doing some bridgework on the cpu. ??

mobo

If this thing is really running at *15 I am confused. Did you mean that it's at 15 in BIOS and is really running at 7? If so, that would make sense. A bridge mod should unlock multis 13 and above. Of course, you'd *only* have 13 and above then. See if you can run the thing at xxx*12.5. Then try xxx*13. My guess would be that at that point it'll drop down to xxx*5.

03018?? That's a new one....

Possible solution to the problems at 133

jumper?

For the life of me I have no idea how you are running at 18*109 w/o a modded cpu.

If it were me, I'd try 5.5*whatever. See if that gets you the *13.5 multi.

i think 6 is the lowest i can go with that i get no boot.
Also when ive got mutliplier at 7 real = 15 and jumper set to 133fsb i get no boot which is wierd seeing it does 2ghz no problem when at 109*18

i dont really want to cut anything unless its 100% got to be done is there a wire trick i can use ??

I remembered seeing this. Took me a while to find it...

2200 bridges

Looks like you wouldn't have to do any cutting and if you didn't like it you should be able to reverse it. It still seems backwards somehow... Might be worth a try.

BTW, new chip? Retail? OEM?

I put on that board new BIOS "04 09 03", and Athlon 2100+. After flashing i've loaded defaults and restarted. Strange thing is that bios recognised AMD 2400+ (2GHz real clock) and everything so damn stable. Memory is PC 133 and CPU ratio is 13x by default. I tried to put CPU ratio on 12x but PC wont to work. After restarting MB automaticly run again in 13x and again recognised 2400+. As long it is work i don't wanna bother. So do as I do, maybe U be lucky as me.

If you haven't done this, look for a jumper on the board that sets FSB ranges. I think there should be a setting for 133-150 (not sure about the 150).

Look to my sign!!

With the kt133a chipset (that we have!) u can put a cpu with the multiplier greater than 13x (>2100+) 'cause our mainboard will add 8x to the multiplier u put! And without any mod!!
Example: i put 9x at 133mhz in the bios and in reality i am 17x (=9x+8x) at 133mhz = 2261mhz=a Barton 3200+ !!

But u need to take a cpu with an unlocked multiplier (mostly are the cpu before week 39).
For example the step of my cpu is:
AXDC2400DKV3C 9739285260237
AQXEA 0337TPMW
and u can see the week on the last numbers "0337TPMW", the year is 03 and the week 37.

U have also to know that at fsb 133mhz unfortunately the only multiplier that works fine is 9x (=17x) so u need to overclock like i done, but 90% u can do it, maybe with a little overvolt (i'm vcore default, but i was lucky!).
If u want u can use the fsb of 100mhz and there u have almost a full range of frequency. If u look in this forum u will find a topic on the kt7 (that is the kt133 chipset, the one before our kt133a, that dont support the fsb 133mhz) where the available multipliers are showed. Or simply just try...

:D

PS: officially the new cpu are not supported... u know, for marketing questions...so isnt usefull to write to the epox.

for 1 my cpu is unlocked i posted stepping code

ive also tried 133*15=2ghz with 1.8V it still WONT post but ive had a 600mhz duron at 800mhz (133*6=800) in there before no matter what i do it will not post at 133fsb

it isnt a barton 3200+ because its not at 200fsb thats y the rating is 3200+ becuase it has a 200fsb plus a 512k cache

if u benchmarked your cpu running at "3200+" speeds and got a REAL 3200+ it would loose pretty badly

You're right...i'm a 3100+! u see everything!! :p
now i change my sign, so it's more correct.
And i have 512kb of cache after mod!! With 2261mhz it's equivalent to a theorical 3100+.
