is it possible to extract the eeprom of a ram module, modify it, and flash the modified version?

if so, is there any benefit in doing this (eg: setting lower timings on a mobo that doesnt support user imputed timings in bios (eg: dell/hp/gateway)).

ummm, not to my knowledge ?

ARe you talking about modifying the SPD settings on the memory itself ?

Even if you could do it, I don't see why you would want to

I think it would be hilarious to put silly names in for your ram. I wish there were a way to do it!

the reason you would want to would be to get faster/better timings on systems that dont support modifying the timings in bios (eg dell/hp)

but if the physical memory isn't capable of it, and your BOARD is locked at SPD 3-4-4-8 timings most likely, how would that work ?

who has done this ? I've never heard of it being accomplished
