Installed new stuff! Got new questions...

Hey people!
I just installed all my new stuff including a new case, hdd fans and psu etc...
so i have 2 questions:
1. With my current mobo i have 2 plugs for fans (not including cpu fan) but i was told not to use those since it could damage it if i used fans with too large amps or something like that... So i used the 2 fan only plugs on my Antec TP480w psu with 3 to 4 connectors to connect both my 120mm enermax adjustables. So i conect them both to the psu through the 3 to 4 thingies but i realize that even at max they are not really strong... So i turn it off and unplug the two things that were on my mobo (the psu's fan monitoring thingy i dont see a use for and my thermaltake mini tiger 1 fan that cools my nb chipset) to plug in the 2 120mm adjustables. Now at max they are really at max! i can see through the rpm monitoring. When i plugged the little 40mm fan on the mini tiger in the fan only plugs from the psu, i could see it was spinning slower...
Simple questions, what should i do? is it bad to plug fans in the mobo? WHen do i know it's ok or not? What does it depend on?

2. Since i installed my 160gb SATA hdd my booting time is MUCH longer and i have that new part of the booting when all i see is a black screen with a little underscore blinking on the top left... It's just too long
Hmm help?

Thx in advance guys!

The fan only plugs for your PSU are made to automatically adjust the speed of your fans. They say not to use adjustable fans on the fan only plugs also. I recommend plugging the fans into a normal molex off the PSU. Not one of the fan plugs.

Yes, plugging the fans into the mobo will yield results similar to plugging it into a normal molex provided that no mobo fan monitoring or controlling is activated. I would recommend you get a fan controller if you want to be able to adjust your fan speed.

OMG!
I read this thread today about how someone's rounded cables were pure crap, so i was like wow, maybe mine too. I tried both of my new pairs of rounded cables and they were giving me the same bad results...
then i decide to try with the old ones... what a change!!!!
same to good old fast booting speeds!!
stupid round cables....

I bought some rounded cables and my results were great. The airflow inproved alot and the speeds stayed the same. I wonder why you have such bad luck with them. Maybe it was that you're using a SATA hdd and i am still using a ide.

Rit, we need to know what brand the bad ones are so we dont buy them and have problems. I'm glad you were able to figure out what was going on with your slow boot issue. THE FANMAN
