2.8 prescot

I was gonna buy a 2.6c but just saw that on Feb15th the price of the 2.8 prescot was only gonna be 178 and the 2.6 is 175 now should i wait are those prices right? Would my p4p800 be compatible with the prescots?

if you can hold off, i would wait. i would think that your board should be able to take a prescott. if it would not, there would probablly be a bios flash for the board when they come out. i will be curious to see how those chips will do myself.

ps, if you get a chip now, i would go with the 2.4c. they overclock better, and, they are less money. 2.4c is the best buy. if you are running it at 250 fsb, it will be faster than a 3.0, and cheaper too.

New mainboards aren't too far off anymore either. PCI Express, LGA socket... DDR2...

I've read several times that the Prescott star will probably not shine much in the old S478 boards and that it could be worth it to get the complete overhaul with the new mainboards instead.

Here's a handful of info on these boards:

That depends whether its the 2.8A or 2.8E. The 2.8A is 533 fsb with no HT, and the E is 800FSB with HT. These are no petty factors, so doublecheck wherever you read those prices.
