something is wrong with joystick

ok my friend let me borrow his old @$$ joystick. I looked at the connection and its a gameport connection, luckly i have a converter to usb. I plug it into the usb, but windows does nothing usually it says you have connected something new. WTF??? ok can u guys help?

Look in Control Panel under Gaming Options and see if it showed up. Also, check both your USB port and converter to make sure you have a good connection.

yes ive done all of that but it just doesnt detect it....

possible its too old and windows doesnt have the correct drivers, try searching through internet for drivers.
