confused about raid, need info please

im a complete newbie, so forgive my ignorance.
i'v read alot on here about raid, but am getting confused with all the abbreviations.
simple question first, im planning on getting an Abit ic7-max 3, with my scarce understanding i beleive it supports raid arrays without any extra components. as long as i get two matching SATA drives i can connect them in a RAID 0 configuration. am i correct?

That would work, but make sure to do it through the ICH5R southbridge rather than the extra onboard chip (the two ports together rather than the 4- your manual should have specifics when you get the board). The ICH5R kills everything else for two-disk RAID 0's, period.
