Try clearing the CMOS jumper or remove the battery for a minute and try again. It's possible the previos settings are still saved. Also can't hurt to reseat the CPU. The Board should recognize that a new CPU is installed. Good Luck and keep us posted as to your results.

I had the same problem on the same setup as you can see in my sig. I had to change the memory timings manually for my Corsair XMS DDR400. I'm not positive but i think i remember my cpu frequency defaulted to something other than 200. You may want to check that also.

can you stay in the bios long enough to do a flash? if yes try getting the most recent ones off of another computer and then flashing them on your current one.

I second the "remove the battery" trick, seems to work better then the typical cmos jumper.

Exact same thing here... I'd bet money this is it as mine was also defaulted to something other than 200. (It was 100, making my processor a 1.4 when its a 2.8)

Yes, I agree with the CMOS jumper. If I were you I would unplug the system, hit the power switch to get any residual energy out, and then take out the battery for 10-however many seconds you wish. I wouln't know becuase I have never built an Intel based system and I have never owned an asus, but could there be a jumper on the motherboard that determines the FSB speed or any dividers? If so, you may want to set those to the proper settings.

Good Luck!
