I'm building a new computer and would like suggestions for a reliable, fast, CD-ROM Drive.

Does it have to be a CD-ROM only? I would suggest a Lite On 16x DVD-ROM. I just bought one for my Dad at newegg.com for $30 w/shipping.

You might get the new asus quiet optical devices series.

I was using an asus 52x cd rom drive before and I never had any problem with it.

About the only thing I can suggest is stick to main brands. I have bought cheap off-name brands and they never seem to last very long.

I have a Plextor UltraPlex 40x CD-ROM. It reads any disc I throw at it and is super quiet. Plextor is #1 with CD-ROM drives but one may be out of your budget.
