When cracking the core of a chip, you can physically tell by looking at the outside of the core right? On my barton 2500+, I just see some of that gray stuff from my hs, and this small, greenish alien looking logo on it. Am i Okay processor wise??

what kind of stuff do I use to clean the cpu off and my hs?

I cracked a core once and it just looked like metal shavings coming off of it. After cleaning it I noticed how there was a tiny chunk missing off the normally straight edged core. I got lucky and my old Duron 800 still worked, it wouldn't overclock anymore though. I use rubbing alcohol and an old cotton t-shirt to clean up the cpu and sink.

that also happen to my tbred 1800+
however, it stills o/c's 205*10.5
got a new barton 2500+ though. can seem to get past 2.2 :(
i cleaned mine off with q tips, and isopropyl alcohol 91%.
you can also use xylene, but be careful.
i got the alcohol @ albertsons or riteaide
you can get xylene @ ace hardware
good luck
