ima go with overclockix is this a good first choice? i like the nforce2 drivers and prime95 on their,also will it kill my system/can it hadle it

The biggest concern for a CD distro is RAM, but since you have 512MB in there if should handle it with no problems at all. All your other specs are pretty great. Have no worries.

Try it. I'd worry a little about a brand-spanking new video card like a 9600xt, but there's no way to know unless you try. Worst that can happen is you boot it and only get a black screen because the drivers on the CD are not new enough.
