Hissing when speakers are turned up

I have had a problem with my Abit NF7-S onboard sound (NForce 2) since I started overclocking a lot. I have basically done all the things that one can do to troubleshoot: I have added extra Southbridge cooling, switched out the audio peripherals, uninstalled and reinstalled everything, installed the latest drivers - everything but screw around with the nForce Tray options, as I don't want to ruin anything . I was planning on getting some nice 4.1 speakers, but if this damn hissing and popping keeps up, there's no use. What else can I do to remedy the problem? I think that my Southbridge chip is the problem, as before I added the heatsink to it, it was red-hot to the touch. What makes it so damn hot? Is it my other overclocked processors? If so, should I just tone the OC'ing down a bit?

Thanks!

That hissing is normal static you can't get rid of it unless you have Uber high end shielded cables which you wont get from any normal computer set of speakers. Just turn the volume all the way up on the computer and leave it then use the speakers control knob to adjust the volume. This will minimize the hiss to the point of pretty much unnoticeable.

Thanks! Anything to stop the popping that I get before my comp plays certain sound files?

Try going back to default clocks and see if that does the trick, as it may be possible that by stressing the board it is causing more signal interference than usual.

Default clocks didn't help. However, I did notice that the static slowly builds up in about the first 20 seconds of Windows running; the login sound plays with no static, but about 5 seconds after it finishes playing, the static starts and begins to get louder until it finds a constant volume :/

i have static on mine too...

i run onboard "soundstorm" audio, from my epox 8rda+ v1.1

if i turn it up, it sounds like a chopper... kinda funny actually...
another thing that i noticed, is that when i restore down, and restore up windows, it makes a funny sound, although i have the windows restore up / down sounds off .... weird...
