I've messed something up bad

I have not been able to get shockwave/flash files to play using Mandrake 9.2, I took a close look at the requirements and it listed some components that I didn't have installed. So I used the package installer to install them and now everything's messed. Most of the things I had installed can't be found now. No Konqueror, no Mozilla (but the Mozilla email program is still there) and I don't know how to get it all back. I tried using menudrake to get everything recognized but it's no go. Sorry I can't give more specifics about it all but I'm new to Linux. I can't even get my "home" directory icon to work properly, if I click it from the desktop, nothing happens. My start button has only a few of the choiced that it did before and now their appeance is different, the pictorial icons are gone. So, am I totally messed up or can I fix this? Does Mandrake's package installer have an "undo"?

your undo is this:
format
reinstall Mandrake

first thing you do once it's installed should be to try the Flash installer again. if it doesn't work you can manually copy the flashplayer .so and .lib files to your plugins directory (i do this for Firebird all the time)

good luck! (=

Does anyone have any less destructive suggestions? I was hoping to find help with trying to figure out linux here but it seems when I ask questions on these forums they just get either ignored or I get non-helpful suggestions like "reformat". Is anyone willing to give me a hand here?

Did you try uninstalling the plugin to see if that reverses the damage?

Yeah but it didn't work. All the stuff was still on the system, just none of it could easily be found. It's like the path info got messed up. If I manually launched something from a terminal it usually ran. I'm speaking past tense because things got worse and I had no choice but to reinstall.
