I have a p3 800 100fsb currently oced to 896mhz. ive noticed after going higher I lock up on boot or have bad performance in games/windows. Other times going above 111 fsb I receive problems where my video does not display so I must restart my CMOS. I currently have PC100 RAM and i believe that may be causing these problems. Any help?

Is your pci in spec? Is it a cbo PIII? what is your voltage setting (vcore)? do you have a good cooler? and not a golden Orb?
if you could mention your mainboard name might help

Wow... core voltage is at 85?? must be typo... you mean 1.85V maybe?.. You have a great mobo and great cooler. what's the Temp at load?.. sounds like your temp isn't high. I assume that temp is at idle.. and this leads me to think your CPU is hosed. Im afraid your CPU is not a good overclocking chip. you maybe out of luck. If that temp reading is wrong, then check your Cooling installation. Be absolutely sure that the HSF and CPU is perfectly lined up and tight. I assume you have used some kind of thermal paste betw. them. right? Otherwise, I donno what the problem is.. gid luck!

I had a BE6 II and it wouldn't work, or rather it would run my chip real hot, because it was a BX chipset. Has something to do with, "split plane voltage." I has to be the first revision and not a cB0 or a cC0.

I got P3 800 SECC2 (100FSB) too and I am using the same mobo that you are running on..My P3-800 is quiet new and the new default voltage is 1.70. (Older version of SECC2 is 1.65V) So I am not able to get the stable spedd @ 126FSB...I simply use Alpha P3125S with dual YS tech fan..I got a Peltier but I think Voltage is even more important to boost the CPU up to stable speed.

Another question I have is, when I put in my processor as new, or restart cmos, should the mhz show up as 800mhz right away? Because whenever I restart cmos it says I have a 533e and I have to set it to p3 800, or if overclocking, user define. I have a feeling the company I bought the chip from overclocked it to 800 from 533e, because with my previous cooler bios said it was idling at 80c

depends on if your bios or jumpers have or are set to "auto detect". You should be able to read right on the chip what speed it is, or you could use something like SISOFT Sandra to tell. (CPU ID also works well)
