suggestions for an old laptop

ive got an ibm 380ed witch is basicly good for keeping papers form flying off my desk

anyway i have it set up to monitor the incoming and out coming requests the the router now but i feel that it could be used for soemthing better

any ideas on what else i could use it for ( its got a working cdrom ) but the battrie is so old it can only stay off the plug for 15 min tops

You could use it as a printer server, maybe an mp3 server, you could buy usb2 add on card and put it in that then get usb2 hds and have a file server.

os = 98 i may put linux on it but im not sure yet

yes it can play sol

i dont have a printer
and i have a usb keychain that holds more mp3's than that laptop

im thinking of a better way to monitor are internet

is there anysoftware taht constalnly "benchmarks" the broadband speed ( thats free)
