vmodding 8500le?

Why do people do this? Isn't that a really old card? Or is there something about it that i dont know?

they Voltmod cards to get the highest benchmark result possible and the top spot of "3DMark2001" or so benchmark

old card doesnt matter if they kill it coz i know id rather Vmod a 8500 than my 9700
